How to Make Wool Pumpkins
To make these wonderful little wool pumpkins you will need:
Toilet Roll Tubes
Wool (the thicker the better)
Scissors
A dry Twig
Step 1
Cut your toilet roll in half.
Step 2
Make 8 Snips into the toilet roll around the circumference at both ends of the tube, going no more than 10mm down.
Step 3
Fold the small tabs created to form a rounded edge.
Step 4
Do the same to the other end of the tube.
Step 5
Select the wool you are going to use, I used a chunky microfiber wool from Amazon.
Step 6
Unwind and cut 2 x 5 meter lengths of wool.
Step 7
Take one of your 5 meter lengths and tie the cut ends together to form a loop.
Step 8
Tuck the knot into one of the slits you cut around the edge of the tube and hold in place.
Step 9
Start passing the wool through the centre of the tube, do not pull to tight as you continue wrapping the tube with wool.
Step 10
continue wrapping the tube building up the layers as you go.
Step 11
Once you reach the end of the first loop of wool, pass one end of your 2nd length of wool through the loop and then tie the loose ends together, just like in step 7.
Step 12
continue wrapping the tube with wool until the hole in the centre has shrunk to the circumference of a pencil, depending on the type of wool used you might require 1 or 2 more loops to reach this stage. when you reach the end of the last wool loop, tuck the end under one of the previous wraps to secure the tension.
Step 13
Push the remaining end into the centre of the tube to form a pumpkin shape.
Step 14
Repeat to make multiple pumpkins.
Step 15
Pop on your shoes and head off for a nature walk, while you are walking keep an eye out for a pencil sized stick which will form the stalk of your pumpkins.
Step 16
Cut your stick in to short lengths and gently push them into the centre of your pumpkins.
